Two fo my ancestors ended their days in the AlmsHouse 'Back of Eldon Street' in Newcastle in circa 1891 Census. According to the maps of the time this was also known as Eldon Place and is where a modern shopping centre now stands, so all trace is now gone. However I have been unable to find any references to this almshouse in any material on historical Newcastle. Am at a loss as to where I could search, general web queries are coming up with nothing.
