Benjamin arrived in the USA in February 1871 according to his citizenship papers.

So he is not going to appear on the English 1871 census.

He is a farmer in the USA and there is anothre Benajmin Skidmore born in England who lives not far from him in Winconsin.

Plenty or articles about them inthe WInconsin newspapers....

I think Zilla;s boy married a Betsy befoe he departed for the USA.

It is Skidmore, not Shulman. Ancestry have it right. FMP have it wrong. ANd the young girl is ZIlah.

That the one born in 1833 that this topic was originally about....

Because Benjamin is married to a Maria in the USA we came across the one married to Maria Scriven...who may or may not be the one who went to America.

Let me see if I can find Maria's death in the USA and that will let us know if she is the Scriven girl....

Okay....the Benjamin that went to the USA is the one that married Maria.

The one that married Betsy is not relevant.

The one that married Maria is the son of Zilla.

The only sticking point is the Samuel on that marriage as Benjamin's father.

In the National Burial Index we have a Benjamin Skidmore born 1807 and dying in 1832 in Tipton.

We have a Baptism for a Benajmin with father Benjamin that matches with the date of birth given on the death certificate in Winconsin.

On that death certificate the father is not named but the mother is and it is Zilla.

That 1880 census shows WI as Wisconsin (by the way its 1880 not 1881)
