I have a book "The Horrockses Cotton Kings of Preston" by Margaret Burscough.

John Horrocks (1768-1804) married Mary Lomax in 1790. This John is the founder of Horrocks & Co. in 1791 and was MP for Preston 1802-1804.

John (1768) was the son of John Horrocks & Jane Booth and was baptised at St Anne's C of E Church, Turton.

John (the father) did not follow his father into Quakerism, but he was interred in the Quaker burial ground in his parents' grave.

Is this the John you are looking for?

There are a few trees on Ancestry with John Horrocks, born 1789, Bolton Le Moors Lancashire - Father Samuel Horrocks and Mother Rachel Hamer - doesn't have a date of death for him though. Where did he die in 1841 ?

Do you have him on the 1841 census or his death certificate ?

I can't see him in Warwickshire in 1841.

Sorry Val - I'm a bit confused - are you looking for John Horrocks born in 1769 and dying in 1804 or John Horrocks born in 1789 and dying in 1841 ?

So - if you know when he was born and you know his father was Sir John Horrocks, don't you have a baptism, with the name of his mother, or do you have a bastardy order. What I'm getting at is, where is your proof that this John is the son of Sir John Horrocks, and where did Sir John Horrocks get his title?
