Have just added a lot of Angels ( name varies between Angell and Angell so used Angell)
When came across unusual record :-

Married 34 years , 11 children ,8 living

John Angel married a Lucy Langton in 1877 Holy Trinity Wordsley and this ties up with 34 years married in 1911 but in 1881 she is noted as Housekeeper and Lucy Langford
What would be reason to show as not married in 1881 ?

Any ideas anyone?

If you look at the image, wife and married have been overwritten.

At 33 Hanley Steet there are some Angel and Langford.

At 32 Hanley Street on the same page is John and Lucy but on the next page is their daughter living at No 22!!

So I would say there was a lot of confusion on the part of the enumerator.

He seems to have changed his mind on Lucy and placed her profession in the place of her relationship.

We don't know who was talking to but I think he was given the Langdon surname by mistake and then decided she couldn't be the wife with a different surname.
