Hello there ,am hoping you can help me with my ancestors John and Emma Ray,

I have a marriage certificate for John Ray age 38, widower of Bilston, miner,Father William Ray ,locksmith.
and Emma Skelden(?Skelding) age 25,of Bilston Father LEvi Skelden,Miner.
They were married at St. Pauls Church, Wolverhampton,30th.October 1865.
Witnesses--George Bullock and Mary Ann Sharp.
I haven"t added this to BCC yet.
I need to find who John was married to first .

On the 1871 census the family were living in Tividale rd. Rowley Regis.,with children George born abt.1858 in Cradley ,and John born abt.1860 in Netherton, there is also a daughter Sarah born abt 1859 in New Village Bilston, but not on the 1871 census. Were these children from John"s first marriage.
On the 1881 census there is a daughter (?of John and Emma)called Agnes born abt.1866 in Netherton Dudley whose birth certificate I would like to find.
John Ray was born in Tong, Shropshire, and Emma was born in Holly Hall, Dudley. They both died in Cradley Heath.
I am hoping someone can help me with this brickwall.
Thank you
.Pat

Thank you Jo ,the 1861 census with John and his family at John St.Bilston certainly looks as if it could be correct one.
I will now look for the last 3 childrens birth certificates,Sarah,George and John.
I agree his age is all over the place, but then he was probably illiterate.
John"s brother Thomas Ray followed him to Cradley Heath.
On the 1881 census Thomas is living inCorngreaves road,Cradley Heath with his 2 sons ,Noah and Enoch.
Thank you again Jo for all you help.

Its ok Pat :)

Ive been trying to find out what a Jobbery Smith is, I think it should read Jobbing Smith but not certain if that would include a Lock Smith as Williams occupation states on the marriage record. I just have a feeling it could be... :?
I'll look for that census again
Jo :)
