Looking for something to keep my amused on my first day of unemployment and thought I would tackle the Jones....because they are so much fun!
3x Great Grandmother Frances Mary Jones has been a mystery that I think I have finally solved....

I believe this is her family in 1841 but Thomas and Elizabeth are her grandparents, not parents.

JONES, Francis M 5 1836 Staffordshire
If you look at the census form, Frances was originally put down in the female column and then crossed out and put in the male column. I simply think there was a communications error and hence the male spelling of the name and the wrong gender.
Thomas and Elizabeth were sticklers for having their children baptised and htey can all be found in the Bilston Parish Register with Thomas' occupation listed as Pudler.
Frances Mary Jones has Thomas as her father with an occupation of Pudler on her marriage record to John Bradford.
Frances Mary always, except for one occasion, puts down Bilston as her place of birth on census returns.
The only Frances Mary Jones baptised in Wolverhampton or Bilston around the estimated birth year of 1835 is to a Mary Jones, single women.
I believe Mary Jones is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth and therefore Frances Mary ws brought up by her grandparents.
These are the baptisms to Thomas Jones, Pudler, and his wife Elizabeth in the Bilston Parish Register.
Mary Jones 31 Dec 1815
Eliza Jones 24 Feb 1822 (Twin)
Job Jones 24 Feb 1822 (Twin)
Anne Jones 05 Dec 1824
Elizabeth Jones 01 Jul 1827
Hannah Jones 15 May 1831
Charles Jones 06 Oct 1833
Thomas Jones 27 Dec 1835
What I can't account for is the seven year gap between Mary and the twins....
Thomas being born in 1835 almost certainly excludes Thomas and Elizabeth from being France's parents.
There is another Mary Jones baptised in Bilston in 1817 to a single mother that could also be France's mother.
Certainly this Thomas and Elizabeth are still in the Bislton area, with him as a retired Pudler, in 1861.
