Can someone check this out:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ngs-FamilyName should be I believe THOMINGS. also:
David born 1817 and married some years before birth?? (1805).

May be a marriage of one of the children may help better to confirm?
Scotlands marriages normally have mothers surname too
