not sure if Brickwalls is

BW you about?

I have started on the Road now
and given up on the other one.

So let's just see if any others are still reading Time Travellers wife
and then On Monday (tomoz) we can jot down on this thread what we thought

no rude words though

then we can start another thread off for the book that Snoops has put up for reading end OCT
again we can take a couple of months to read that and come back end dec with what we thought of that one.
That way we get time to read others inbetween.

Now that you've all finished reading this book, I'll let you know my thoughts. I read it about 6 months ago and thought it was complete rubbish. I didn't want to let you know until you'd read it.

Ok for what it is worth my views on it are
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

it was the most boring book I have ever read!
I thought Portrait of the artist was boring....clever but boring.......but this was ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Too much detail to wade through, I kept having to skim thru it to finish a chapter.
I am reading the road and it has gripped me from the start, loving that one.
So it's a   from me

next!

I Also found the few pages I read very boring and all the detail , when reading it found my mind wondering on to something else.

So  for me also.

I read it all, but found it difficult to 'lose' myself in the book. Couldn't relate to the characters, found it difficult to feel sorry for them, as their relationship seemed to be all about sex and not much else.

I read it all too.
I can understand what others have said about it being too descriptive. It seemed to promise more that it delivered. I would have liked a bit more detail about their daughter - she seemed to have come to terms with the time travel thing.

I'm relieved to find others not enthusiatic about this book, I found it to be very over-rated.

I've 'read' it twice, the first time I gave up about halfway through, I found it so far fetched. Some time later friends were discussing it and I thought I might have been too hasty and should perhaps give it another go. My instincts were right - I got about two thirds through this time and gave it the old heave ho.

I rate it way behind Wolf Hall and coming from me that's saying a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I don't often give up on a book but Wolf Hall is dreadful! I just read Portrait of an Unknown Woman and I quite liked that.
I didn't think TTW was so bad actually.

Here's three suggestions:
Fleshmarket Close by Ian rankin
White Nights by Ann Cleeves
Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell

I can get all three from the library (already ordered), so whatever the rest of you think!!!

Which one do you want us to read cos it is your choice

I read a few more pages of the TTW
but I am bored with it.................and got the road out till we start again in Oct

I think I'll go with Henning Mankell and Faceless Killers.
It's been out in english for sometime, my Dad had borowed it from his local library.

Sue

Snoops has gone with Henning Mankell and Faceless killers

so get your requests in
and we can start reading that as soon as you like and back towards end of December to see what we all thought
(will split this topic soon)
