Hi Jan, well done sending for the marriage cert. Am erring on John being brother to Wm. John died 1847 aged 50 so that is only a couple of years out, need to double check if Wm and John had the same Occupations, also need to check any similar children's names. I know that the were a couple of Edwins in their respective families, back in the Parish Records there was an Edward Toy, wonder if they descend from him? Have a look in your Clent Book Jan, see if any of them are in there, other than that will wait on the Marriage Cert.

In fact if you believe in this theory that memories can be passed down via DNA I would be willing to have my head examined to uncover some truths. ;)

Ok let's wait then till we get this birth certif for Wm Tay and see mothers names
then we can try and find a marriage
of course they may not be married John and Rosannah.

It says da of John and Rosanna Toy alias Tay of Long Lane - Nailer.

Also 25.5.1837 Mary Ann da of John and Rosanna Toy said to be 7 years old of Long Lane - Nailer

Probably Married in one of the Churches not on the IGI, Harborne is one of them I believe. Found Rosanna's bap at Halesowen - 17.2.1799 to Andrew and Susannah Harris. Think this could be them:-
