Lucky I live at the top of a big hill and can wave to those below as they float past.
Yeah, Mark, me too. I'm banking on global warming delivering me a waterfront property.

Scary stuff, my husband set off to Aberdeen at lunch time with 2 work friends in one of their cars.
Hope they get there ok. An hour ago they were stuck on the A1 behind a car fire
Did pack them up with some corned beef pies I made this morning, flasks and sleeping bags just incase!
Jo

Lovely photos Peter!

It was -9 when i got up this morning, now it's +5 (at 8pm)! Hopefully all that snow will melt tonight
We went to get the Christmas tree tonight.... Boy was that fun!
Firstly we got the tree from a small holding out in the middle of nowhere (half the price of the ones in town!), where they don't clear the roads. It was +1.5 and raining, so the rain was turning to ice at it hit the compacted snow on the road.

The ESP light on the dash was blinking like crazy!
Our road slopes as it goes past our house, so on the way back, my husband's going about 10mph, and breaks at the top of the slope and keeps on breaking,(calling it a hill would be a vast exaggeration) about 100m from our drive. They don't clear our road either! We grind to a halt just past our drive when the slope bottoms out, couldn't reverse back up, as it was just too slippy (maybe the trailer on the back didn't help - hubby doesn't want needles and resin in the car!!!!). Luckily we managed to turn the car and trailer round and get down our drive with no major mishaps!
So now the tree is in the shed, waiting for me to decorate it tomorrow! I do like decorating the tree.

Hope you got your tree decorated snoopysue!
The snow is thawing here now.
Next doors conservatory gutter is bent right over, My daughters guttering on her rented house is on the ground!
Will be a while getting sorted because of the amount of damage the snow has caused they are all too busy.
Outside is now like an ice rink, people falling over, have to admit to laughing at some. Shame on me.
The noise of the cars skidding and crunching outside is really quite scary too.
Our garden well flooded and just noticed the fountain and pump hasn't been emptied and wrapped up for winter.

Well the snow might have gone (temporarily according to the meteorologists

), but on balence I prefer it to all this ice that's covering everything now! It started as black ice on monday, now you can see it but it's just as slippy!
Just been into town, and was silly enough to walk along the river, my logic being that it's a gravel path, and therefore a bit safer - boy was I wrong! The snow had already turned to ice, and didn't melt at the weekend, now it's at least 3cm thick layer of ice!
Before I moved to denmark I'd never experienced black ice, and always got the impression in the UK that it was patchy. Not here, when it comes, it comes with avengence! It covers everything (except grass and other plants), needless to say casualty, x-ray, and the orthopedic surgeons have had a busy week!!
Please can we just have snow, and forget this black ice thing??

Sounds nasty, Sue. Here, we occasionally have black ice on mountain roads - and it's treacherous.
But, don't need to worry about that right now. It's warming up nicely for Christmas. Hmmm, lobster or prawns?
