I know your not keen on speculating on BCC and that's fair enough - but isn't it a simple case of process of elimination? Also how certain can we be of anything that is written down?

Sometimes you have to go with what you think is correct based on some look ups, etc etc and then an educated guess
and on BCC if we stick our name at least we know then who has added it
so if it all unravels I will be the one that cops it and gets my hands slapped.
But I think this has been a good one to dive into!
and the truth will out!!

Absolutely.
There must be a paper trail.

There's a baptism at Halesowen 17.2.1819 for a Joseph ? son of Wm and Winifred Toy Hill Nailer. The question mark is for an unreadable name in my transcript, but as we all know not everyone is known by the names they were baptised with
HTH from Linell.

Hmm, so William Toy married a Winifred, may not be the same William Toy, there were a couple during that century in that area who were not related to my research, not directly anyway.

This is way too long a thread now!
Can someone post the 1841 census for William and Sarah please? Who was living at home with them?

I haven't been following this at all but found this if it's any help?
1841: Crock Street
John Evans 30
Sarah Evans 30
Thomas Moah 8
Ellen Trumps 6
Samuel Cutler 20
Harriot Cutler 20
William Toy 45
Sarah Toy 40
Now that's how it's been transcribed but the actual image shows William and Sarah Toy on the next page

Sorry,
I've been completely snowed under with work so not been able to dedicate anytime to this.
At the moment I don't need anything - or I do, but I can't really concentrate on developing a train of thought. Just wanted to be courteous and reply to explain the situation.
Hopefully in a few weeks I may find the time to have another run at this.
Thanks
Nick

Possible death match for William Toy b abt 1793.
http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/informat ... 1276592722Shows a William Toy d 1871 83 which would put his DOB at 1788.
Now I know he was alive 1861 and he wasn't on the 1871 census and his wife was then down as a widower again.
So I searched for death records between 1861 and 1871 in the area. But it seems they don't give ages until 1867.
Does anyone agree?

I think you will have to work this out for yourself Nick, no one can tell you who your Wm Toy was, you have to make an educated guess using all the information that is available. Linell.

I am working it out, but I wanted an opinion to see if anyone agreed.
