wrong Sidney!

I have actually looked up the marriage for your Sidney Hackett and Mary Layton ie I have been to the archives and got the actual marriage register out
and the Sidney you need is this one on this link....

The Mary Layton that married Sidney had a sister called Annie she was the witness at the marriage
The other sister of Mary is a Lily she married a Siviter and that is the L. Siviter you mention.

So I suggest you forget the Leicester one.....the one we have on the Black Country Connections is the correct one
trust us we aint called the Eh? team for nought

Thanks for all your help - The Mary Layton is as follows from her birth certificate in my possession 13th Feb 1888 Hagley Road, Hasbury, Mary/girl/Thomas Layton/Bertha Layton formerly Neal/ No 90 in Births Register No 54 Stourbridge in the County of Worcester.

The Hackett Sidney your have offerred look good as I beleive the person Mum wrote to was her cousin (A layton), I am in the process of confirming that with my brother who has the address also,

wedding found 1907 for mary layton 19 and sidney hackett 20 (parents edward hackett and thomas layton)
witness joseph Taylor and annie layton (mary sister) also sidney mother is a taylor befor marriage


letter l siviter who wrote to edith lillian c 1863 marriage of lilly layton to joseph siviter dec 1924

1911 census show a lilly layton c 1904 with the rest of the Layton family

article also say mary left for Austrailia and father for canada shortly after they split edith was brought up by granparent possibly william and sarah Hackett (so he didnt Know who gparent were ) edith left for austrialia 1928


as for the sidney hackett you found it could be possible a re-marriage for edith lillian father and that how she came across the name raymond g, could do with the marriage look up to see who his father is and also locate edith on the 1911 census i know there two possibilities stourbridge c 1908 she would be down a 2 on the 1911 census.

note ramond also said his mother left little trace about her english family so it is possible she knew her father by sight if it is the one you found and his second wife didnt want anything to do with edith ?
