I think its the right one with the wrong birth place put on census.

Also the wrong age for James, all other results suggest a birth year of 1837, 1836 at the earliest and 1838 at the latest, and see my earlier comments about James parents, if Charles and Ann are the parents then James was born out of wedlock, or he isn't as old as the other results suggest. And I've lost track of Phoebe and Emily for the 1881 census.
edit: Of course he may have been economical with the truth about his birth date if he knew he was born out of wedlock in an effort to make his parents wedding year and his birth year more respectable.

Thanks Jimmy, I'd used Search to find 'Phoebe Silsby' and nowt came up, that'll larn me

and I'd never have thought of looking for a Schrempton. I wonder if the Heasmans are those that James & Fanny lodged with in later life; it looks like the families were close if only on a master/servant basis.
There's someone at the SFHG investigating Heasmans, I must get in touch.

I've had a meeting with a cousin who has extensively researched the Haines connection so I think we can archive this thread, it was getting very messy anyway, if I need your help on any of them again I'll start a new thread, Thanks for all your help.
