Now, if I read the rules correctly, no-one said we had to use all the letters at once, so:
71 words: from ETMOEDRA:
MOTE EAR DREAM TOME READ
ODE ATE MODE ERA DRAM
TAME ROAD AM MEAD EMOTE
DEEM TEEM REDE AT METRE
EAT DAM TOAD REAM REEM ARE
MORE EDAM (Is this allowed? - as type of cheese not place name?) DOTE TRADE ROAM
ARM MATE DATE TEAR RATE
ART MEAT DOME TROD ROPE
OAR MADE DAME TORE ROTE
MARE DEAR TARE MERE DEER
TEA RAT MEET DARE TEAM
ROT MOAT TOE RAM MOA (an extinct large flightless New Zealand bird)
TARO (a species of edible tuber grown in the tropics) REED TRAM TREAD RODE
TAR TO MAD MAT MET

And surely someone can beat this. I never got past 5 letter words.
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.
