Can't find a marriage but can anyone see them in 1911, that would tell us how long

There's an Edwin Toye in 1911 b1862 in Aston, Warwickshire. Which looks like the same Edwin who is a bricklayer - I will need to get some credits for the 1911 site later this month.

I'm sure someone will have a look for you, eh guys?

Assure me that says Brock Street and not Crocks Street?

I have looked for other capital C's on the page, and Cakemore looks different, and the way the census was taken with the letter starting at the bottom, it looks like a B.

Actually, the 1871 census says he was born in Crock Street, so maybe the B is a C?

Could be something and nothing.

Looks like he is Edwin born 1878, Married to a Jane, they lived in Moor Street Rowley Regis. Marriage could be Jane Slater 1898 Dudley Registration or Sarah Jane Rose 1899 Dudley Registration :?: Shame they had about 8 children. Linell.

Do you still need more info on this thread?
If so what do you still need?

Well I still don't have anything concrete on the whereabouts of this person. I don't believe he was a soldier - not enough to be certain anyway.

Ok, I got a phone call today from a Canadian lady, who gave me some information about other branches of my family - and that sparked me off wanting to learn more about the whereabouts of Edwin.

Now I bought some credits for the 1911 census to try and track down this person.

Only Edwin Toye was born in 1862 and was from Aston, Warwickshire - which coincides what the above person has said.

So I did some more searching on Ancestry and we do have multiple Edwin's, unless it was the same person and he was committing bigamy?

To summarise.

Edwin Toy - b1860 (Hill, Worc) - who I believe to be my ancestor, who according to 1881 census was a Bricklayer
Married Ellen Walford 1858, the evidence I have though say that Edwin Taye not Edwin Toy. But the marriage index for Ellen Walford seems to coincide with this evidence, so seems to be a transcript error.

Edwin Toy - b1862 (Netherton, Staffs) - also a Bricklayer.
Married Georgina. Edwin died in 1937 age 75.
I don't think this is the same Edwin, but not 100% certain of that fact.
He does however appear on the 1901 Census with Georgina, but couple seem to be child free.
As said earlier, I do have an Edwin Toy b1862 showing up in the 1911 Census, but not prepared to waste 10 credits just yet.

Edwin Toy -b1862
Married Florence,
But I couldn't find evidence of this so taking the word of the previous poster.

I am due to meet my Grandfathers sister soon, she is the granddaughter of Edwin and Ellen, so hoping to get some information from her - although it may be quite tough if wrongdoings have occurred.

Hi Nick, why don't you just get your Grandparents Marriage Certificate and work backwards from that? That will tell what you need to know. Linell.

Have also just found a Mary Ellen Toye b 1859 ( 1 year away from what the Ellen Walford I have was born), Ellen Walford's mother was called Mary, so perhaps she was born Mary Ellen but took the Ellen name as her first name. This record though:

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/resu ... 1183715784

Shows Mary Ellen Toye living in Devonshire.
