That looks fine, NL. I wish we could attach Absalom the son of Absalom Homer and Mary Bill as the one who marries Jane Saunders, as he would be the right age, but I don't think we have evidence for this.

I found the following in an Ancestry Tree which links the names Cox and Homer, but haven't really tried to fit it in. It's a bit out of area and the dates don't look quite right.:

From a photo of a MEMORIAL IN ST. MARYS CHURCH, MOSELY published in an Ancestry Tree:

"SACRED to the memory of HENRY HOMER Gent.
(of Balsall Heath in the hamlet of Mosely)
He died Oct the 3rd 1802
in the 39th year of his age
and was buried in a vault within the Chapel

BETTY HOMER RELICT OF HENRY HOMER
Who died Feb 25th 1832 Aged 72
JOSEPH COX HOMER SON OF HENRY & BETTY HOMER
Who died July 13th 1835 Aged 31

AVERY EDWARD HOMER SON OF HENRY & BETTY HOMER
who died April 16th 1841 Aged 61

MARIAN HOMER DAUGHTER OF JOHN & MARY HOMER
Who died Oct 13 1826 Aged ... (illegible)

Ancestry tree data:
Henry HOMER c. 7th Nov 1743, d. 3rd Oct 1802
Spouse: Betty COX c. 16th Apr 1753, d. 25th Feb 1832

Children:
Catherine Homer c. 26 Nov 1773 Tamworth, Staffs.
Henry (1776-1851) c. 29 Jan 1776 Tamworth, Staffs., d. abt 1851 Acocks Green, Worcs.
John (1778) c. 14th Jan 1778 Tamworth, Staffs.
Avery Edwards Homer (1780-1841) d. 18th Apr 1841
Joseph Cox Homer (1783-1835) 22 aug 1783, d. 15 Jul 1835
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

Noah and Absalom Homer are listed in Bentley's Trade Directory for Cradley 1840.

Noah Cox Homer is a Bootmaker and Beerseller and Absalom is a Boot Maker.

From the 1854 Post Office Directory - Homer Absalom Cox, agent to the Birmingham district fire office, Colly gate Cradley.

What are you looking for NL, the Cox connection?

:o Hi NL, think they made it up as they went along, they have another son Thomas Higgs Cox bap 15th April 1835 son of Absalom and Sarah Cox Homer Cradley, Cordwainer - Thomas said to have been born on April 3rd. Was Sarah a Higgs, not read all of these posts? On the same page is a baptism for Emma 18th Jan 1835 to Noah and Sarah Homer, Cradley Shoemaker, no Cox mentioned there. Baptisms from the Cradley Register. Linell.

Dies anyone know if the Vicar from the notes add just what children are living there or how many they have had?
Its just that the notes say 10 and there are 19 children named but then what about Thomas Higgs Cox Homer and where was he in 1841?

So muddled here!

So we have 1841 census
Colley Gate, Halesowen
Absalom Cox Homer 43 Agent
Sarah Cox Homer 34
Jane Cox Homer 77
Thos Higgs Cox Homer 6
Sarah Cox Homer 1
all born in County

So this is the one I thought in school

I think he just did a head count when he was round their home Jo. The Rev Thompson had only been there a short while when he compiled his Notes, I presume that his information was only what was on hand, he couldn't have had any family history unless he was given that verbally? I'm sure it is no more reliable than what is on the Census, needs some backing up from somewhere else. Linell.

Thanks lin.
And it should have said 10 children named not 19!
I'm going to list Absalom on another thread.
