I can't find a marriage for Mary Edwards/Warren to a ??Hooper - did she actually marry the wicked step-father? but it looks as though Mary might have started to see the world outside Somerset

1891 6 Harper Street,Trinity Newington London
Edwin J Frith 66 Head
Ellen A Frith 61
Elizabeth M Woolly 6 Gr Daug
7 Harper Street,
Mary Hooper 58 Wid, Housekeeper, b.Witham Friary
Edwin Pinkstone 24 Assisstant, Grocer's Assistant

It looks as though Edwin owned both 6&7 as Mary and Edwin are given a relationship relative to him

This sounds good, could Charles be one of the twins? I quess you are thinking this too.... thankyou for all the time you are spending on this for me I really appreciate it.
Joseph Warren in this family is a Cowman - he could have been called a labourer, could't he, and the Maria Edwards could have been Marry's mother. It looks like you are getting close. If we could find the birth date of the twins that would seal it.

Yes I was thinking he could have been one of the twins but then found the 1881 Wales entry that suggests it might have been Benjamin so I was back to square one.

There's a family tree on Ancestry with the Yeovil family. Looks like the owner could be a descendant of Albert.
It could be worthwhile communicating with him to see if his family 'story' matches yours, Sandra?

Another ancestry tree ("Everest-Warren" Owner: philipandmegan) has
Yeovil WARREN family:

Joseph Chant WARREN m. Mary Ann HUTCHINGS 1860 Yeovil, Somerset

Children:
Mary Anne WARREN 1861
Lucy WARREN 1862
Charles March WARREN 1865-1885
George Thomas WARREN 1870-1894
Joseph Chant Hutchings WARREN 1872-1956
William Windsor WARREN 1875
Sarah Kendrick WARREN 1878
Albert Henry C WARREN 1881-1949

Free BMDs:
Mary Ann Hutchings 1860 Yeovil Somerset
Joseph Warren 1860 Yeovil Somerset

I'm inclined to think this eliminates the Yeovil family from consideration

Uh, oh ... William Charles Warren appears to marry Kate Coghlan on 1 June 1884 at Lambeth, London and then Sarah Davies some time later (according to a family tree) and then be living on his own in London in 1901.

I have an awful feeling that the Witham Priory family is not the one we're looking for either

Thank you very much for all the information, you have gone to a lot of trouble. I am afraid I still cannot see a positive connection but it does rule out some of the families.

This family tree - Ancestry tree (Price Family Tree, Owner: damekellyholmes) William Charles WARREN 1858 Could this be your Charles?...
I don't know, could be... there is an age difference of 13 years. If William Charles Warren married Kate Coghlan on 1 June 1884 at Lambeth, London, than it is unlikely he is my Charles, as he would have been married in England and then immigrated to Aust in 1887 and remarried here in 1900. He was 88yrs old when he died in Aust in 1960, if he was the above William Charles Warren that would have made him 101yrs when he died, I doubt if it is the same person, he looked an old man when I saw him last and that was in the 1950's.

I will contact - Tree = My Family File

Owner:
 MarkMcLaughlin1974

and see what he has on the Warren family.

Just backtracking a little ... So, if Charles wasn't in fact born in Grantham, where might this location have come from?

There is this:
Free BMD Index, 1837-1915
Joseph Warren
BIRTH: Dec 1851 - Grantham (1837-1933), Leicestershire, Lincolnshire

This Joseph could be the right age for Charles' father?

Hi Daniel,
His marriage certificate states - Grantham, Lincoln, England and his death certificate states Grantham, Lancashire.

I just had another thought and checked to see if there was any official record of his immigration and found on Ancestry there was a ship called Ormston Grange which departed London, they went to Gladstone & Bowen Queensland, then to Sydney New South Wales arriving 21-8-1897, he is listed as Charles Warren- deckhand aged 27. (which is 10 yrs after I had his arrival date. Dumb I should have checked that before).

The BMD index
Joseph Warren
BIRTH: Dec 1851 - Grantham (1837-1933), Leicestershire, Lincolnshire
Could be the right one for Charles's father. I will try to get back in touch with the kind person who checked Charles birth and see if she can check Joseph for me. Thanks
