Can this in fact be our Susannah (nee Tibbetts)? If Elisha is still alive in 1881 and living with son, Elijah? Or is this the other Elisha??? Think it is Susannah's Elisha, but where was he in 1871? Were they, perhaps, estranged?

Thanks for the Census updates on all the Willetts Di, interesting to find that Prudence and her husband ended up running the Blue Ball, I've been in there a long time ago, wish I had asked about the Willetts now

Could someone please tell me which Susannah Willetts died please, as this is all very confusing. Best Wishes Linell.

You want me to add the census stuff to each of the Elishas, Gardener?

Linell,

Elisha & Susannah are definately both alive and together in 1861:
1861 Peartree Street, Rowley Regis
Entry 193

Elisha Willitts Head 44 Nail Maker b. Worcs., Cradley b. 1817
Susannah Willitts Wife 46 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1815

John Willitts Son 22 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1839
Moses Willitts Son 19 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1842
Emanuel Willitts Son 12 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1849
Elijah Willitts Son 10 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1851

It seems to me that Susannah-who-married-Elisha is still alive and living with their son, Elijah in 1871. On one side at Entry 137 is her son, Moses, and on the other side at Entry 139 is her son, John. Therefore, she is probably the Susannah who died in 1872.
1871
Peartree Lane
Entry 138

Susannah Willetts Head W 56 b. Rowley Regis b. 1815
Elijah Willetts Lodger (Son) 20 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1851

The thing that puzzles me is that Elisha is absent in 1871 and Susannah is said to be a widow, however, Elisha shows up in 1881, living with this same son, Elijah (and stated on the census image to be Elijah's father).

1881 Pear Tree Lane
Entry 84
No. 23

Elijah Willetts Head 30 Horse Nail maker b. 1851 b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Ruth Willetts Wife 25 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Moses Willetts Son 4 Scholar b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Myra Willetts Daur 3 b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Solomon Willetts Son 1 b. Staffs., Rowley Regis
Elisha Willetts Father 66 b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1815

So I'm wondering if Elisha & Susannah were estranged in 1871 and Elisha only came back to the family after Susannah had died.
Making up stories again.

Thanks Di and Gardener, right am with you now, Susannah wife of Elisha does not die before 1871, and it is the other Elisha who re-marries :-) Seems that you both have it sorted out, so well done, look forward to seeing this put to bed :!: Best Wishes from Linell.

It would be brilliant if you could put the census data in Di. It makes such a difference and saves going over it all again if a query comes up later.
I was wondering about Joseph Willetts b 1792, father of Elisha who married Martha and Mary. There seem to be a terrifying number of Josephs born around that year so I'm not sure that James is the right one.
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... d=98485936
There are the witnesses to Joseph's marriage though. Who was Phebe?

FarSide, that looks possible doesn't it? Even though the birthplace is Halesowen rather than Cradley?

Looks a distinct possibility, FS. Thank you for looking. I knew you'd come up with something.
Wouldn't it be nice if Joseph Tromans was a relative?

Hi Gardener, born or baptised Halesowen could very well cover Cradley. Most of my early Cradley Ancestors are recorded as being from Halesowen. Cradley was a Township of Halesowen. While we are on the subject could I be a pain and say that the entries on Connections for the children of Joseph and Elizabeth Willetts of Pear Tree Street have all been listed as being born in Cradley, when in fact they were baptised at Cradley, it seems to me that this particular family were born and bread in Old Hill, I would think this Willetts family always lived in the Pear Tree Street and or Wilks Fold area. I am sure they weren't born in Cradley, I have researched Cradley through and through and would know if they had lived there in that time period. Best Wishes from Linell.

Sorry meant to add that Elizah Willetts Gorsty Hill 56 in 1871 could well be the missing Elijah due to the fact that we have found some of the Wilks Folds Willetts in Gorsty Hill before, Anthony Willetts was there with his family in 1851. Another one of Suki's Willetts was also found there, think it was a Hannah? I do not like the born Halesowen though, that does not fit, but it could be a mistake? HTH from Linell.

Hi all, just seen this entry for 1861

1861 Peartree Street, Rowley Regis
Entry 193
Elisha Willitts Head 44 Nail Maker b. Worcs., Cradley b. 1817
Susannah Willitts Wife 46 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1815
John Willitts Son 22 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1839
Moses Willitts Son 19 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1842
Emanuel Willitts Son 12 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1849
Elijah Willitts Son 10 Nail Maker b. Staffs., Rowley Regis b. 1851

Elisha says he was born Cradley on here, whether he was or not, is not important, but I think this confirms he is the same Elizah in Gorsty Hill 1871 :!: Linell.
