In the 1841 census - Rowley Regis, Dudley we have

William Dudley 1791 - Engineer
Sarah 1796

That is probably the same family as listed above.

There is a Sarah in West Bromwich - living with iron workers by the look of it...but the next entry on the census (next door) is actually a Wesleyan Minister..
There is another Sarah as an apprentice tool maker in Wolverhampton.

1861 Census - West Bromwich - William is living with Eliza (his daughter and her family - husband is Joseph Johnson). Shows occupation as proprietor of houses ?

No mention though of being a butcher...

Yes - I've got all these on my tree - there are a number of Hillman' s who were butchers....
Elijah married Sarah Parrish 9 June 1823. He was a son of Joseph (see below)

James (1778 - 1833) was a butcher as was his father, Joseph (1754 - 1803). They set up shop in Dudley..and over the years started to deal in hides, making leather goods. The factory on Trindle Road produced all sorts of stuff. My father eventually sold it off (after a number of fires) and Tarmac built an office block (that looked derelict last time I drove past).

Yes I have the marriage for Elijah and Sarah - I'll send you a copy. Its actually slightly blurred - which was why I never noticed. The microfilm has been damaged but looking at it now I think it is widow.
