I dont have any birth certificates re Benjamin as my focus has been to find the pre-marriage name of mother, Harriott. I will have to 'digest' what you have all kindly provided and decide my next step. Unfortunately, I am not living near a records office that will have the records so will have to plan another

trip.

This is probably only useful for for BCC but as further background to this issue; a record was found on the IGI website which shows the death of John Pearson on 8 May 1840, aged 58 years, and his burial 'in Dudley' on 10 May 1840; his place of residence is shown as 'Mushroom'. This record corresponds with and supports the information known about daughter, Sarah Pearson; also a 'Transcript of Halesowen Parish Registers' shows that a John Pearson was baptised on 30 September 1781, and that he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Pearson.

Prompted by all the responses, I have obtained a copy of the birth certificate for Benjamin, son of Benjamin and Eliza Pearson.
This shows son Benjamin was born on 9 July 1844 in Mushroom Green and his father was Benjamin, a ' Nailer' and his mother was Eliza (formerly 'Collins').
So my identification of Benjamin's wife as Elizabeth Hamblett was incorrect.
There is an IGI record of the marriage of a Benjamin Pearson and an Eliza Collins in the Parish Church, Clifton-upon-Teme, Worcestershire; I assume this is St Kelem's Church in that village. Clifton is in the Malvern Hills, a long way from Mushroom Green!
Has anybody got any details of marriages in this church which may provide further confirmation about the parentage of Benjamin. I dont expect it will help with my search for Harriott but would help complete the family 'picture'.

I am trying to identify the mother of a Sarah PEARSON who married Frederick FENDALL (aka FELDON) IN 1841. Her father was JOHN PEARSON and I believe she was one of 6 children who were christened in Park Lane Church, Cradley between 1806 and 1818 and whose parents were JOHN AND HARRIOTT PEARSON; Sarah was christened on 15/12/1918.
JOHN PEARSON was 'deceased' at the time of the marriage of Sarah and in the 1841 census there is a PEARSON family in Mushroom Green, headed-up by widow Harriott; Sarah PEARSON put Mushroom Green as her place of residence at time of her marriage to Frederick.
I cannot find the marriage of John and Harriott to establish Harriott's surname before marriage - help!

Does anyone have Any more thoughts on this John Pearson Harriot marriage?

I put the details of the burial of John Pearson in my post of 2 April. More in hope than expectancy I sent for a copy of the death certificate which arrived today and which shows John died on 8 May 1840, aged 58 years, in Mushroom Green (cause - liver complaint); it confirms he was a 'Nailer'. The bonus is that it shows his death was registered by his sister-in-law, MARY DUNN, who was in attendance at the time of his death.
There is a DUNN family shown in the 1841 census living next door to widow Harriott Pearson in Mushroom Green, including a Joseph and his wife, Mary, but she seems a bit young to be a sister. From BCC this Mary seems to be Mary Vaughan but I cannot find any evidence she had a sister, Harriott.
Can anyone help to take this further to confirm Harriott's identity.

Given that (in theory) they rounded the ages down to nearest multiple of 5 in 1841 Harriett could have been just 55 while Mary could have been just short of 35 and so the difference would have been "only" 20 years -- certainly not that unusual in those days -- especially if the father remarried and it was actually a half sister

So Joseph could be the brother of Harriet
and then Mary would still be sister in law
