Irish records are very hard to get. An awfull lot were destroyed...
If you look on our links section it may help.
Didnt want to spoil your hunt but Joseph looks like he was with his uncle in England 1851, Scotland 1861.
If you get ancestry it may be worth contacting that person tree, must be some relative down the line and they may have more info!

I dont have credit either but this is just from Transcriptions only.
1871. Port Street Annan Dumfriesshire
Joseph Woodman, head, 26, Fisherman, born England
Margaret, wife, 26,
Joseph, son, 6,
Hugh, son, 4
Margaret A Bitte, daur, 1 month (??)
Jane, daur, daur, 7 month
All others born Annan
1881 Port Street Annan
Joseph Woodman, head, 36, Fisherman England
Margaret Woodman, Wife, 35
Joseph Woodman, son, 15, Fisherman
Hugh Woodman, son, 13, Fisherman
Maggie A Woodman, daur, 11
Jane Woodman, daur, 9
John Woodman, son, 5
Susamah Woodman, daur, 3
Thomas Woodman, son, 3 MO
All others born Annan
1891. Kenziels, Annan
Jno Joseph Woodman, head, 46, Fisherman England
Margaret Woodman, wife, 45
Hugh Woodman, son, 23, Fisherman
Susannah Woodman, daur, 14, Apprentice Dressmaker
John Woodman, son, 16
Thomas Woodman, son, 10
Eleanor Woodman, daur, 7
All others born Annan
1901. Lower Kenziels, Annan
Joseph Woodman, head, 36, Fisherman (? should be 56? but does say birth date 1865)
Margaret Woodman, wife, 56
John Weedman, son, 24, no employment (it says imalid I pressume should be invalid)
Thomas Woodman, son, 20, Fisherman
now that looks absolutly brilliant. a quick question
assuming 1871 census margaret A Bitte << can i assume she could be adopted, as in teh 1881 her name has changed from margaret A Bittie to > Maggie A Woodman.
Can i also assume that any names from 1871 - 1881 or should i say any new names are births? and also thereafter any names missing are deceased. if thats understandable lol
Thanks a million for your help
1871 Margaret A bitte
could be margeret A Ditto ?
some used Ditto for the same as above ?

I think it may be something like that Peter.
No he wasnt with Margaret Martin then, I can give the transcription for both if you would like?
this says about the census from Scotlands people
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Conte ... ?r=554&611That marriage to Margaret Martin would be a great help to you.

Its ok as long as you dont post all the details. But just from a jpeg it does take a lot of space on the forum so its better do use a link where you can store it, I use photobucket and I cant think where, my son just said flickr?
That says Alice ?ton? So isnt the same as the person has on ancestry?
Jo

Thanks thats it now updated to link...
i thought it looked more like ?tow?, but doing some random searches with wildcards i have IRETON, ALICE from lancaster
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/ ... _form=truesince joseph was from lancashire i can only assume this could be the person im looking for , but until i find a marriage record i dont have much to work on
so far we possibly have
Old Old Joseph Woodman (Unknowndates C 1800) Married to Alice ***Ireton***
Old Joseph Woodman (1845-1924) Married Margaret Martin
His Son also Joseph Woodman (1865 - 1931)
Edit
another record found at 3:27am, this could also be possible but not too sure, i just realised right now how hard this geneology could be or maybe not so much as hard but confusing lol
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/ ... _form=trueJoseph Woodman Marriage 17 June 1816 to Alice Airton at lancaster.

Whats odd is that Joseph is with his Uncle in 1851, Joseph Woodman and his wife Alice??
1851. Sunderland, Overton Lancashire
Joseph Woodman, head, 55, Fisherman
Alice, wife, 54, Kellet
John, son, 19, Fisherman, Sunderland, lancashire
William, son, 15, Fisherman
Agnes, daur, 12,
Joseph, nephew, 6 (So Nephew or that a mistake?)
All others born Overton

Sorry i dont have access to the 1851 census i only paid the 5 credits for the 1861 census. now im begining to think i have followed wrongly somewhere as the 1861 has
Living at the Kenzels - which apparently my family have lived their for a very long time.
William Woodman Head 25 Fisherman England
jane Woodman Wife 24 England
Anne Woodman Daughter 4 Annan
Alice Woodman Daugher 3 Annan
Joseph Woodman Son 10 Months Annan
So if i forget my earlier post which says
Old Old Joseph Woodman (Unknowndates C 1800) Married to Alice ***Ireton***
His Son Joseph Woodman (1865 - 1931)
it would be
William Woodman (Unknowndates C 1836) Married to Jane Woodman(1837)
Old Joseph Woodman (1845-1924) Married Margaret Martin
His Son also Joseph Woodman (1865 - 1931)

Is this your William?
It might be better to start a thread on general.
Add all the info you know right so far then we can help work it out from there.
