Finally got 2 of my certs this morning. Will add this info to connections.

Robert Kendrick b 5th Aug 1845, Bell Lane, Stourbridge
father- Joseph Kendrick, bricklayer, mother- Eliza Kendrick formerly Powell (or Rowell?)
informant - Eliza Kendrick, mother, Stourbridge
registered - 9th Sept 1845

Mary Kendrick b 5th January 1849, New Street, Stourbridge
father- Thomas Kendrick, bricklayer, mother- Ann Kendrick formerly Pardoe
informant- Thomas Kendrick, father, New St, Stourbridge
registered - 16th Jan 1849

So now we have the maiden names of two of the Kendrick brothers 'wives', who we can't find the marriages for. Can start looking back on them for clues. Should I start seperate threads for Eliza Powell and Ann Pardoe, to make it less confusing?

Am awaiting 4 more certs, which I hope might arrive tomorrow, so could we leave this topic open please? Thank you NL.

Ok, new certs arrived this morning. Was stuck with marriages/births, so attempted to despatch some and see what info that would glean. Will add to connections shortly.

Sarah Kendrick d. 21 Nov 1852 New St, Stourbridge aged 75 yrs
wife of Thomas Kendrick, nailer
Diarrhoea 6 weeks
Informant - X mark of Sarah Kendrick, Coventry St, Stourbridge (present)

Thomas Kendrick d. 9 Feb 1853 Union Workhouse, Wordsley, Kingswinford aged 82 yrs
Nailer
Old age
Informant - Henry Bee, Union Workhouse (in attendance)

Richard Kendrick d. 20 Feb 1880 Workhouse, Wordsley aged 67 yrs
Bricklayer
Paralysis
Informant - William Tompson (master) Union Workhouse

So it seems poor Thomas ended up in the workhouse after his wife died, and didn't manage very long without her. Is there more information to be found from workhouse records? Not sure what else these deaths can give me clues with really. I did think the Richard cause of death is quite interesting.

Hi Rachel yes there is - sometimes- so certainly worth looking at
tell me what you want add it to the list with date and name and workhouse which at dudley is the dudley/sedgley union one

and I will get the info for you if I can

not sure if Wordsley is where he was regisitered but would it be the Sedgley union one?

was there a Wordsley union workhouse?

actually what were the workhouses in the area anyone know?

Sedgley union is the Dudley union one
but there must have been others.

If so not sure where Wordsley would be?
Staffs?
I dont go there if it is. :(

On certs says Wordsley, Kingswinford which is presumably Worcs, not Staffs. Kingswinford being near Dudley? I'm not local :-) lol, though, so someone else would know better than me?

Edit - Kingswinford is Staffs isn't it, d'oh.

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?Stourbridge/Stourbridge.shtml says near bottom records at Staffordshire archives. Urgh.

Hi Rachel
someone might go you never know might be worth a post in the look up requests and then fingers crossed!

Or maybe email them and ask the question of the info being sent to you...not sure how much that would cost though :(
