Yes, early seventies he would have stuck a few cushions up his jumper and then lay on the floor eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

SRD wrote:I was thinking more about Wolf Cub age, by the time I'd got to student age it was Dead Flies. When we were a little older, sometime in the early 70s, we were in a pub in the middle of nowhere somewhere adjacent to RAF Odiham (where we'd spent a short winter's day with the Army gliding club and teatime in the club bar drinking Courage Directors (for free) with Appleton 151 rum chasers), and we persuaded a mate to do his celebrated Elvis Presley impression. The pub was packed but we were loud enough for our nearest neighbours to start clearing an area and, despite his protestations, to join in encouraging him. So the music was turned off and he got up from the table, laid down on the floor and crossed his arms over his chest. After a few moments stunned silence, followed by a few groans, the pub returned to its normal bustle and noise. I was quite surprised they didn't throw us out.Northern Lass wrote:SRD wrote:Dead Dogs? Was that the one where you lie on the floor trying not to move? I think we called it Dead Soldiers.
think we called it being P****d
we did that a lot as students
Dead Fly ? wasn't that something that mad Chris Tarrant used to do on a Saturday morning ?

I thought he was brilliant but he didn;t really go down hill with any dignity.
The one thing I remember about the day he died was I had just purchased my first Rubiks Cube that had just come out in the shops

Oh Sorry - I remember the day he died - had to go to hospital with an ear abcess. When I got home my two daughters were crying over Elvis dying and I couldn't stop crying with earache.
I liked Elvis until I went to see a couple of his films - real cr*p. Walked out of the Odeon in New Street half way through GI Blues. Never really rated him after that, my kids like him though. Too much into drugs in his latter years - one of his live tracks - Suspicious minds - so an old friend I know stops to say hello (stick it up your nose). Nuff said .....
