Not where I live, sandy soil all the way.
One reason why west coast farms were bigger, and west coast farmers poorer than their east coast counter parts (that and the westerlies!). Most of the unproductive land has now been sold off and summer houses built - the farmers laughed at anyone paying good money for such poor land - now they're laughing on the other side of their faces as properties with a sea view fetch silly prices that the recession has only dinted slightly!
Oh I suppose the pond at the bottom of our garden might end up as a peat bog if we didn't maintain it and waited loooooooooong enough!
