Hi Kdw- Wow- thanks for all that - Yes I see how Cornelius fits in- that is the right Henrietta you have- and I have her marriabge cert and she was nee Lowe.
I have come across the name Portia in an earlier generation aswell (portia Mullett)

I didn't know anything about extended family going to the States- I only knew aout William Tooth plus wife. William and Henrietta appear on very different pages on the passenger list which always seemed a bit odd- you think they would have stuck together like glue on such an adventure. Maybe Henrietta was with some of her brother's family.

Somerville is where Henrietta Junior was born- I have her USA birth cert.

I will dig out details of outbound voyage for William. Perhaps the Lowes travelled out together with the Tooths.

I see Cornelus was askilled brick mason. I guess William went out to help with his building/painting background.

Hard to read my small printout but I think William and Henrietta were on a passenger list dated 14th HJune 1889.

The ship was the White Star Liner Scythia (there have been at least 3 Scythia ships -
