rite I have looked that marriage up for that Samuel Hiscocks and Rosanna that Eliza is with in is it 1871
and it is I believe the same person.

I will check the Eliza Hiscox and James Capewell and see if her father is Samuel a miner or labourer as Samuel father
seems to vary on census his occup.
But look at the census in 1891 Eliza isnt with Joseph
but they married in 1886
she is with her son
and look at her occup a tailoress.
She is with her brother and his wife on that census does it say the r'ship to each other
and father is there his place of birth fits.

So I hate to say it but did she marry and the other guy was still alive

Hi folks,

sorry I don't have the marriage for that James. I do for his father James. I can't get onto BCC to check what I put, but I believe that James the son was born in Netherton and christened at St Thomas church. His father James is shown as a Tace Maker on the baptism and a chain maker on census. James the son is shown as a miner on the 1851 census

Have had a look at 1851 census, there are only 3 James Capewells living in Dudley. 2 are mine (james and Sarah, and son James). the other one belongs to William and Sarah.
Free bmd has a James Capewell dying in Sept 1851 in Dudley, (but no age). It is not my older James as he is still alive in later census, so must be one of the younger ones, but which one????? My younger James is down as a miner on all census, but the other James has no occupation so no clues there. Think you may have to wait for a look up to see which James it is. But is defo looks like she married whilst already married.
James senior dies in 1887 aged 87.
There are 2 James that die between 1891 and 1901 - one in 1892 age 60 and onw in 1897 age 63. On 1891 census there are 2 about the right age, but one is a brick maker so we can discount him.

Am I a pratt or what????? don't answer that. Just looked at the transcribed list for St Thomas church and found this
