Oh, and I must apologise. I think Rob is getting the blame for stuff that I have done. I added some census to these folk. I may have put in census for a particular person who wasn't the head of the household. Trying to show that person through the years as sometimes it is not clear when you're jumping about looking at census on different people.

Sorry

Hi Di
there is certainly measure in stating the info as you suggest no problem
this is not a hard and fast rule
it is just where possible we add to the head of the household.

but I agree some flexibility is required and as a seasoned oppo you know what you are about
it just said added by robbie
and much as it pains me to pull him up on the slightest thing I do have to guide him with a firm hand

To be honest I have it with the Daniels one we need to add Wm Daniels snr in the household of Wm Rose and other family members to show where he is.

So use your judgement everyone
It is just as a guide not set in stone that we use the head of the household where appropriate and then if necessary
we also show the same census to highlight the movement of another ancestor

Does that help?

So where are we with this?

Quite clear and OK with that Jan. You do need to keep a tight hand on the reins as the tree is so big now and getting some recognition in genealogy circles. It's a responsibility! And some of us (me in particular  ) do get carried away at times.

I know you don't need protection, Rob . I was just getting an attack of the guilts.

Unless anyone can suggest ways of checking out my guesses about James' parents/link to other Westwoods, I think we would have to leave it there for now. Hang on, what about this:
Rob wrote:James Westwood born 1834 kingswinord staffs married Emily French 1834 Dersley,Gloucestershire
June 1860 Halesowen St. John the Baptist refnr. 014/002/436 Dudley.

Is this on for a lookup, Rob?

If father for James 1834 is a William, do we have enough evidence to put William & Elizabeth as James parents, and Benjamin as William's brother, and Ann as William & Benjamin's mother???

If so, then we could do a lookup on:
1. Extracted:
WILLIAM WESTWOOD
Spouse: ELIZABETH HINGELEY
Marriage: 01 NOV 1829 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England

This below is speculation. I can't think how to confirm any of it yet:
dianel wrote:and possible?:
1851
At St by A... (?), Kingswinford
Benjamin Westwood Head 23 Coal Miner b. Staffs., Kingswinford
Elizabeth Westwood Wife 26 b. Bepon, Yorkshire
Samuel Westwood Son 4 b. Staffs., Kingswinford
Mary Ann Westwood Niece 19 Stone Leader/Loader? b. Staffs., Kingswinford
Eliza Westwood Niece 17 Stone Leader/Loader? b. Staffs., Kingswinford
James Westwood Niece 14 Stone Leader/Loader?
(recorded as 'Jane', niece female, but see below) b. Staffs., Kingswinford

1841
At Quarry Bank, Kingswinford
William Westwood 30 b. abt 1811 Forgeman Y
Elizabeth Westwood 25 b. abt 1816 N
Caroline Westwood 11 N
William Westwood 9 Y
Maryann Westwood 7 Y
Eliza Westwood 5 Y
James Westwood 3
Y
Louisa Westwood 1 Y
Ann Westwood 65 Ind. N
and seems to be in same house:
Samuel Billingham 60 Y

Stretching a long bow ... Perhaps we are looking for a Westwood family with a mother, Ann, at least 2 sons Benjamin & William. Benjamin married an Elizabeth and so did William. William's Elizabeth may have been Elizabeth Billingham with father Samuel.

rite bringing this back cos it checked out on the French side father for Emily was William a shoemaker
so that lot is covered here.....
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

now the Westwoods checked out too

so what is your hunch Di?

I am adding William Westwood as the father of James ...
one of the wits is Louisa edmonds

1859
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
WESTWOOD * Louisa EDMONDS William Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/002/401
WESTWOOD * Louisa EDMUNDS William Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/002/401

so it is James sister

So Di I will fill in the marriage details

I will add William and Elizabeth as parents
who is this Elizabeth
is she Elizabeth Hingley?
we can add that as a possible.

But who is that Ann with them in 1841
must be as you say mother to William and Benjamin
can we find 2 bapts for Wm and Benjamin and a mother Ann and find the father for William Westwood

If anyone can add the other kids of Wm and Eliz from census checking they not on already that would be great
1841
At Quarry Bank, Kingswinford
William Westwood 30 b. abt 1811 Forgeman Y
Elizabeth Westwood 25 b. abt 1816 N
Caroline Westwood 11 N
William Westwood 9 Y
Maryann Westwood 7 Y
Eliza Westwood 5 Y
James Westwood 3 Y
Louisa Westwood 1 Y

Ann Westwood 65 Ind. N
and seems to be in same house:
Samuel Billingham 60 Y

and that marriage for Louisa
would be a big help
