bapt 1845
then very very late regis 1846
it is a possiblility
a lot of the vicars tried to put folk off registering births as they believed that was down to the church!

I think that is our Joseph Slater with that Sarah Hipkiss
he has a dau and son called Jane and Richard
those are names that figure with our Joseph Slater

a Joseph Oliver marries a Sarah Hipkiss
is he a widow
did he ever marry
did he marry a Jane Slater
did she die
did he then marry the dau of Sarah Hipkiss who is age 12 in 1841
Is Joseph Slater then lodging with his step g. ma?

I think that the marriage for a Joseph Oliver and Sarah Hipkiss will help
otherwise we are just chasing our tails and I end up papering the walls with certifs

Joseph of Joseph and Jane Oliver Cock Green Collier is this the 1842 one late?

Cock Green is near St Giles and I checked on the map at archives today
and the Regis office would be Dudley
or may be listed as sub district Rowley Regis which came under Dudley for registration
so that 1840 is very interesting this one

whereabouts of Joseph Slater (possibly Oliver) born 1842 ish
whereabouts of Sarah Hipkiss (born 1829ish)
whereabouts of Joseph Oliver Born?? but he marries Sarah Hipkiss in 1852 - does it say age on marriage entry

1861 Joseph and Sarah Oliver (now married see above)

1871 Census

All of the above with Joseph Slater about to marry Amelia Cole or just married _ I can't remember what time of year they were married

Well I have never found such a lot of people that don't want to be found:

The only one I can find is Amelia Cole living with parents in 1871 before her marriage in the May.

Don't give up.... I searched for weeks for my Tromans family, even looking at whole streets of people. I tried every spelling I could think of, wild cards etc, even searched using first names only. Turned out it had been transcribed as FROMANS. Thank goodness for FarSide, though how she thought to look for Fromans I don't know. So keep searching.....

I still think his age being so consistant must mean something ie b 1842 ish
wonder if finding him on the 1911 might help?

I can look up the marriage so that will be interesting for Joseph Oliver

I think the Joseph Slater with Ann nash is on the 1871 census with parents Daniel and Eliza next door

so that leaves 3
