Lulu wrote:Nobody Pete, Robbie took umbrage because his wife is Dutch and one of my Admins had posted she wasn't letting in these Lady/Boys with foreign sounding names, usually with the surname and christian name in the wrong order. You know what he's like when he has his wooden spoon out. Somehow he seemed to be implying his wife wouldn't be allowed to be a Member which was twaddle and if you knew how many of these Spammer accounts we get, you'd appreciate what a pain it is having to deal with them all.

I see he's back in chatting to his mate this evening

That's not strictly true LuLu,If i remember correctly i took issue with the fact that new members would be vetoed on "whether or not according to their profiles there is any connection with Blackheath,Rowley Regis or surrounding areas".
Later there was another statement from one of your assistants stating that foreign sounding names would also be scrutinized more carefully.
After your reply of it being your group and you decide on who's in or out someone deleted all the remarks!!
I Remember Blackheath and Rowley Regis is a brilliant facebook page and i recommend anyone interested in the area to request permission to join.I sincerely mean that but my issue is with the Little Hitlers who seem to let a bit of power go to their heads and take themselves too seriously. It happened before on another good Black Country Website and it would be a shame for it to happen again.
Anyway having got that off my chest i'll go back to chatting with my mate on Facebook.

Couldn't be much further from the truth Robbie about little Hitlers, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes but your entitled to your one side opinion. :-) Yes it is my group and when people start get arsey their comments will be deleted because that is not what I want it to be, which is why I removed the entire thread. I'm perfectly aware that all forums, even this one have to delete comments at times.

When I said one sided, I did qualify that statement by saying, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes. As a Member you view can only ever be one sided.

and help your members and add to BCC lulu?

Lots of friends I presume finding friends?
Which is a great thing.

We are running with that Thomas Parkes one in the BC forum
Did your member get the marriage info RF looked up ok?

Does she have any info going back on the Parkes?

I think you will see it wasn't me that started it but I am allowed to answer an unfair, incomplete and one sided criticism of the way I am running my Group, which was published here in the belief I probably wouldn't see it. however one of the Members here informed me about this topic, which is why I looked. And as Rod obviously doesn't like my Group I will be quite happily blocking him.

Rest assured I won't bother coming in here again.

In answer to Jan, yes a large number of people finding old friends and one finding relatives they thought had died, folk getting in touch and tears of joy and many private messages thanking me for creating such a wonderful group.

Sorry folks - but I feel like adding my two penneth. Don't shoot me, this is just my opinion, but feel I must side with Rob here.

I'm a member of the said group and from what I can see, the whole thing was started my someone acting as Admin saying that unless there was a reference to Rowley or the surrounding areas in their FB profile, or a connection to someone who was already a member (really difficult I would have thought with 2,000 members) or they had a surname which didn't sound British, they wouldn't be accepted onto the group.

I completely understand the reasoning behind someone not being given access if their profile looked a bit dodgy, but I for one thought the tone of the message was a bit autocratic, especially for a site that was supposed to be kindling friendships. I was concerned because I had told a friend about the site a couple of days before. She lives in Kingswinford, but went to Britannia Road School (not on her profile) - also she is married to a Mexican guy, so had a completely non-English name.

Now - call me simple if you like, but if I was screening people before giving them access, I don't think I would have needed to broadcast the fact on the site. If my friend had been denied access, she could just have said that she was born in Blackheath, or that she was my friend, or that she has a Spanish name because of her marriage to a Mexican.

My first reaction was one of shock, because of the "tone" of the announcement, which was then followed up by colleagues giving legitimate reasons for the announcement, but using the same "tone".

I didn't read all of the posts because some of them had been deleted when I was reading through, so I can't comment on anything I didn't see.

So - as I said earlier - this is only my opinion, but at the risk of being "banned", I have to give it

"Love and Peace brothers" xxxx
