Aha! Lawrence is a mariner. That explains why Mary Ann is a married woman and keeps having more children over several census without a husband in sight.
Wonder where Mary Ann's mum is.

Hmmm, looking at the census attached to that family tree, it looks like James Dyke/s and his wife may have been living separately.

that marriage to a Dodgson is really interesting as I have Dodsons and they were up in Northumberland...

also the story ...when we thought that Oram was ours...was that he was a sea captain of viking stock...
so the sea captain link is true...but scottish....

Looks like the Dalls are of Scandanavian origin. Lots of Dalls in Denmark.

so there might have been some truth in that story handed down from my father and his mother....shame not my blood rellie

See that is another odd thing that strory would have come from Laura Oram....who is really a Laura Simpson why would she tell her son that story ....cos she knew she was not the dau of Wm Oram I know that from other things said.

I might try and find a death for this Daniel Simpson
cos something happened to him
he left them
or married
or died
