I meant comparatively; crumpets and pikelets have large vertical holes in them (a bit like honeycomb) so they tend to break when folded, scotch pancakes have the air more evenly distributed through them in much smaller bubbles so they can be folded.

I can't really believe the pikelet and crumpet debate is still going strong. just google photos of the two, and then it is quite clear that they are crumpets
