I have found my father's (Robert Jones's) marriage record to Margaret Mullin in 1913 and am going to order a copy to see what extra info I can get.

I know my father had several siblings. I shall get whatever names I can from my mother asap.

I've now got my paternal grandfather's marriage certificate:

Thomas Edward Jones (21, so born 1892), married Margaret Mullin (21) on 16/11/1913. He was living at 14 Rose Vale, she at 102 Roscommon St. His father was Thomas Jones ( a Carter), her father was John Mullin (labourer, deceased).

There were 2 witnesses: John McGrath, Mary Mahoney.

I would love to know where Thomas Edward was living in the 1911 census and who with.

Thanks for these leads. Its taking me a while to get to grips with the detective work involved and I do appreciate your help!

Thomas Edward Jones was a 'labourer' per his marriage certificate. The 1901/1911 census data also looks promising.

My mother says Thomas Edward Jones was born in New Zealand but I'm beginning to think she's mistaken.
