On two census Samuels wife is down as Catherine, 1851 as Caroline.

I cant see a marriage to a Catherine. There is this one though for Caroline?

West Midlands Marriage indexes for the years: 1880
GROVE Samuel SMART Caroline Dudley, St Thomas Dudley Register Office 204/035/418

But I cant find a Caroline Smart!

There is a Catherine Smart and that family are on BCC here
