Hi Jan, yes that looks like it could be the same Phoebe, nice one. If I am right that would make her age 22 on her marriage. if she was born 1828 and married 1850. So not all that old.
Thanks
Kathy

hi Jan, I cant say I have seen your look up for Martha on any link I posted. Are you saying you found her birth and she had no father named? I am still getting used to this site, I might have missed it. Where do I find it.
Best wishes
Kathy

Okedoke look up will be after crimbo now and I only go to sandwell when I got a few more on there...so...going to archive this for the moment and bring back when done the look up....if that is ok?
any more info turns up then can bring the topic back in a jiffy!
So unless otherwise advised this topic will be moved to archived section within 24 hrs

ps there is that birth certif which would be interesting to get
West Midlands Birth indexes for the years: 1840
HODGETTS Mary Oldbury Sandwell Register Office OLD/3/56

I am bringing this back as have done the look up
very very interesting.... got father for Phoebe as William Hodgetts same as Mary put down for her first hubby!
So was it a made up name?
did he exist?
is there a marriage?
Did a Mary Hodgetts marry a William hodgetts?
or did a Mary unknown marry a William Hodgetts?
not sure about that bapt for Mary Hodgetts father Timothy

hi Jan found my way here in the end, thanks for you help with getting me back on also the lookup for Phebe.
Now I have got to look at what I have, I think Mary may well have married a William hodgetts. Their youngest daughter to show up, Phebe was said to be born 1828, so if there was a marriage It would likely be around the same time, the next child martha was said to be born around 1832.
Mary was living with Siviter and had a daughter to him in 1841. So I am looking to find William hodgetts death between 1832 and 1840. And a marriage to William hodgetts around 1828.
There is this one on the IGI. William Hodgetts to Mary Lowe 17 Dec 1826 St Peter or Collegiate, Wolverhampton, Stafford. Not sure about this of corse. Have you any idea how to narrow the search or where to look. If it was local I would go through the micro films at the arcives, but I dont have access to any from the area they were from. Is there any site on line I could access that might help?
Thanks again
Kathy

Maybe find these 2 marriages on the census and dismiss them?
I am unsure on this William as was it martha didnt have a father down on her marriage which was strange.
But equally strange that name is on Marys and Phoebes...but of course Marys is not true so was Phoebes
Is there a likely death for a William Hodgetts?
one of the Witnesses Bidulph seems to be somat to do with the church.
wot does anyone else think?
