I had a good chuckle when my 16yo niece turned up at a family get together with a new stud in her tongue and her boyfriend Jack.
When my mum asked why she had it done I suggested that it was to keep Jack happy. This confused mum terribly till somebody sat down and explained its "benifits" to her.
The look of shock on her face and then the frosty look she gave my niece was classic

I must be too Old ...what are the benefits of a stud in your tongue!

I need that one explaining to, all i've heard of is that you can damage nerves in the tongue, not to mention infection problems!

When I think of all the bacteria we have in our mouths (not to say the pain aspect!) I don't think I'd be that generous towards others!!!

Benefits of a tongue stud are for the partner when engaging in that pastime with the politically correct word of fellatio.
The Troggs was one of the best names for a band EVER!

You were a Wolf Cub? What was Kims Game?
Tut Tut, I suppose that when someone says Kipling to you you think of cakes!

Kims game is where a number of objects is placed on a tray with a cover over it. The cover is removed for a set time and then replaced and you have to remember as many of the things on the tray as possible. The BBC nicked the idea for the conveyor belt on
The Generation Game.
I was a Wolf Cub, but not for long, they wouldn't let me join in with the games like British Bulldog until I'd mastered my knots, I couldn't get my head round the knot instructions so I thought 'Bugger this for a lark' and left. Oddly enough Kim's game wasn't considered a 'game' as such but a skill to be mastered, so we got quite a lot of that as well as the bloody knots. Mind you I do regret not mastering knots, especially now I only have the use of one arm; many of the sailing knots are designed to be tied one handed.

Durnford is a bit to the East of us, not too far from Stonehenge (to the North) and Salisbury (to the South). It's in the Wylie Valley, very pretty along there and some very pricey properties. There are quite a few Forces families along there, especially serving and retired senior officers, as it's close to the army camps on Salisbury Plain, RAF Boscombe Down and the research establishments at Porton Down, it can be a bit posh in places and is also quite rural.

Not only fellatio, it's supposed to be good for both sexes.
Not just a good name, a good band too.

We used to play that at birthday parties. Always preferred playing Dead Dogs though.

Dead Dogs? Was that the one where you lie on the floor trying not to move? I think we called it Dead Soldiers.

I was thinking more about Wolf Cub age, by the time I'd got to student age it was Dead Flies. When we were a little older, sometime in the early 70s, we were in a pub in the middle of nowhere somewhere adjacent to RAF Odiham (where we'd spent a short winter's day with the Army gliding club and teatime in the club bar drinking Courage Directors (for free) with Appleton 151 rum chasers), and we persuaded a mate to do his celebrated Elvis Presley impression. The pub was packed but we were loud enough for our nearest neighbours to start clearing an area and, despite his protestations, to join in encouraging him. So the music was turned off and he got up from the table, laid down on the floor and crossed his arms over his chest. After a few moments stunned silence, followed by a few groans, the pub returned to its normal bustle and noise. I was quite surprised they didn't throw us out.
