The Parisian did leave Liverpool for Halifax on the 10th December 1903 which makes the arrival in Halifax Canada on the 18th December correct.

However, looking through the 7 pages of the passenger manifest when it left Liverpool, I can't see a Benjamin Skidmore listed.

He may be a crew member or under a different name.

I will see if I can find the arrival manifest.....

He also crossed back into Canada from the USA in December 1908. His wife was with him and they arrived in Montreal, Canada with their final desitination being Rhode Island. They put their Next of Kin as his sister Annie living in Dudley.

That does not match what is on his border crossing card.

He says he arrived in Canada on the 18th December 1903.

There is no Parisian leaving England for Halifax that would suit a 10th December 1904 arrival.

If I get half a chance I will check the passenger manifests for 1904....

hi peterd reg hobson was the brother of eleanor,benjamins wife and came from holmfirth england.i cant find a marriage for them i think they may have married in canada.lots of information coming through i dont know how i will sort it all.what an exellent site

This broadly corresponds to what Linda Moffat says in her book Skidmore Families of the Black Country and Birmingham 1600-1900 (2004). Cornelius, known as "Naley", was the son of William Skidmore and Mary Taylor. He was born on 14 December 1803, probably at Springs Mire, Dudley, married first Susannah Smith b. 1805 on 5 March 1826 in Kingswinford and second Mrs Maria Jukes b. about 1817 Gornal, on 3 Aug 1851 at Sedgley. His father William bpt. 23 Jan 1757 Oldswinford married Mary Taylor b. 1757 Oldswinford on 17 April 1780 at Oldswinford. William's parents were John and Mary Skidmore who married in 1740/1. That John's father was probably John Skidmore bpt. 29 Apr 1704 Kingswinford, son of John Skidmore bpt 30 Mar 1681 Kinswinford who married a Penelope c. 1700, son of Francis Skidmore bpt. 2 April 1632 Kingswinford and Ann Glover bpt 19 Apr 1646 Kingswinford, married at Kingswinford 8 February 1675/6.

Benjamin the fender maker was born in Dudley on 17 March 1881, emigrated to USA in 1904, marr. firstly Eleanor Hobson (b. about 1883/4 perhaps in Huddersfield) on 24 Sept 1906, they were living in Rhode Island in 1920 (but the children's births show he also stayed in Massachussetts and Canada), married secondly Margaret Perrett in 1930. Children: Wesley W. Skidmore c. 1908 Rhode Island; George F. Skidmore c. 1909 Canada; Wilbur R. Skidmore 28 Nov 1910 Massachussetts d.
