Bit hard to have a "Colonial Complex" when you are born in the Mother Country don't you think?

I simply misred your post.

Anyway, veledrome racing has finished with the Aussies winning 16 of the 18 Gold.

Since the U.K thrashed Australia at the veledrome for the first time ever at the Beijing Olympics, and that the U.K are spending a huge amount on their cycling team for 2012, it should be interesting in two years time.

Well done Australia.
Didn't the Brits win something big in cycling last year? Seem to remember something being shown on the box (course it might've been at Beijing, don't pay that much attention to the cycling but the danes are crazy about it - would have prefered much more athletics, always something happening there).

Some of the English swimmers are excellent but their track and field has been a bit of a worry so far.

But when you add the Welsh and others into the team for 2012 it looks a bit better.

Their veledrome cyclists should be the best bet for Gold at London in 2012 with Australia and Germany providing the main competition.

Having said that, they have reduced the number of cycling events for the first time ever for 2012!!!

I have no idea why.

On the road circuits I think it is a bit more open and recently Thor Hushovd from Norway won a round of the World Championship in Australia.

England and Wales did quite well on the track.

The Hockey match netween England and India was terrific.

Australia got beaten by New Zealand in the Rugby.......again...

IND 32 25 32 89

And the final tally..

AUS 74 55 48 177
IND 38 27 36 101
ENG 37 59 46 142
CAN 26 17 32 75
RSA 12 11 10 33

And the other parts of Great Britain.

SCO 9 10 7 26

NIR 3 3 4 10

WAL 2 7 10 19

IOM 2 2

If you add those medals to England's tally then Great Britain did very well.

They had some excllent swimmers, road cyclists, gymnasts and track athletes.

I think they are in for a record haul at the 2012 Olympics.
