Looking at this again, Jan, I'm wondering if we have enough evidence to add William and Eleanor as William Mallen 1821's parents - and 'Harper' as Eleanor's surname.
What do you think?

But William's age is pretty consistent in later census and wouldn't need to be rounded up or down. So probably I'm still looking for a William born around 1821.

they call a dau Ellen?
maybe add it in notes if you don't feel it is strong enough?
