Hi Dan
I wonder if there are 2 Henry's here with father Edward?
How sure are you that your Henry married Emma Millington?
Have you any of the kids birth certifs from that marriage? ie sibs to your Henry- so kids born 1837? bit of a wide shot that I know but they did have these kids for 20 yrs some of em!
Cos I found this Marriage one with father Edward too....seems to fit with the Shrops Edward bapt and married there?
Henry Skitt
Father: Edward Skitt
Spouse: Harriet Jenks Marriage: 14 SEP 1851 Madeley, Shropshire,
Extracted marriage
Also I have found as I trawl thru the marriage records that they put dead when not and not dead when should have been - so wouldnt believe everything put on the certifs.
When you get that marriage certif the info on there do post as that will be very useful re witnesses and occupations and place living etc.
Have you got these Skitts on the 1841 census at all?
If so can you post the ref ie folio etc and we can have a look?
Bapts yes they can be any age when christened.
But think it might be 2 families of Henrys with father Edward.

ps the 1851 and 1841 would be good to see ...anyone...

So both marriages are after the 1851 census for both Henry's
So at least we have some sibs for the madeley one.
Be interesting to see where they both were in 1861 as that then possibly sorts out the Madeley lot.
or not?

This is quite strange that it feels like a solid trace in the 1881, 1871, 1861 census with all the names and ages matching up well but then the ages and names on the 1851 & 1841 census go very wide. I am fairly certain of Henry and Emma marrying all the records tie up well but they married in 1851 in St Giles, Willenhall so it seems starnge that they would marry there but live in shropshire.
Is it common for there to be two sons named the same name in a family?

Madley is Telford way not too far from Shrops
but there might be 2 families here.
Did you ever find him in 1841 in W'ton?

Is it possible they were not in the country at the time of the census?

Hi Farside,
Can I ask where you did the search to find the 'Scitts' in the 1861 census that you posted a few threads ago, I cannot find them anywhere?
Thanks
Dan

Thanks for the data Farside, can you tell me though where it came from i.e. Ancestry.com or the like, as everwhere I have tried to look for it comes up blank, I just want to know if I'm looking in the wrong places.
