Powell Family

Morning!

I put up a post a few days ago about William Powell and his family, which has since been archived. Since then, I've ordered a copy of Mary Ann Powell's birth cert (my great grandmother). Her mum was called Sarah Wakeman and her date of birth was 29 Jan 1857. The family lived on Garratts Lane, Rowley Regis. Sarah couldn't write so marked the original document with an 'X'. William occupation is listed as a Coal Miner.

This info confirms that William Powell married Sarah Wakeman 1856 in Rowley Regis. If anyone could find any more info about the marriage date etc, I'd really appreciate it. I have found census records for William and Sarah.

Please feel free to add Mary Ann's details to the BC Tribal Pages!

Regards to all

Phil

Yes, this is the record! I'll post a request if you haven't already done one! Ta very much for your help!

I noticed that William was listed as Thomas on the 1871 census - must have been an error by the person taking the census as all the other members of the family match other records perfectly. I've encountered spelling mistakes before. My wife's ancestors, the Adams of Muscott, were listed as 'Andrews' on one census.

Many greetings to all

Phil

Hi All

Thanks so much for doing this look-up for me, Rockyfowler! I'd come totally stuck on this branch of my tree.

If anyone wants look-ups doing in the Isle of Wight Record Office, I'll be over there at the end of August. Plus, I'm planning a visit to Southampton Archives soon.

Best wishes

Phil
