Re: Tour de France
Mark Cavandish did it again he mangaged to finish first in the mass sprint at the end of todays stage.
Fabian Cancellara is still wearing the yellow jersey and Cadell Evans is still in 3rd place.
Todays stage was the longest and uptil now the hottest 37C in the shade!!
Tomorrow it's Tournos - Station Des Rousses 165.5km.The Alps are approaching and Albert Contador and Lance Armstrong are still handily placed.

Yellow jersey = overall race leader ... I think
Anyway, Cadel Evans has it!
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

Re: Tour de France
Today was a rest day in Le Tour.
The tour waits for no one and yesterday saw Lance Armstrong involved in 3 falls and can more or less kiss his chances bye bye this year being 13 minutes 26 seconds behind. The end of an era?Welcome to the new generation?
Cadel Evans is the new holder of the Yellow Jersey with one of the brothers Schleck in second place 20 seconds behind.Still there in third place Albert Contador 1 minute 1 second behind.
Tomorrow it's Morzine-Avoriaz - Saint Jean de Maurienne.

Re: Tour de France
I bet you were wondering where i was!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Anyway yesterday's stage 9 Morienne-Avariaz - Saint Jean de Maurienne was won by Sandy Casar but in the pack just 2 seconds behind was Andy Schleck and Albert Contador. So, because of Cadel Evans having a very bad day ( Cadel was sundays holder of the Yellow Jersey in case you'd forgot) finishing 8 minutes 9 seconds behind, the new wearer of the Yellow Jersey is Andy Schleck with Albert Contador 2 seconds behind in second place. Exciting right!!
Cadel met his match on the Col de la Madeleine losing contact with the elite group who surged forward.
Todays stage 10 Chambery - Gap ( Bastille Day!!) was won by Sergio Paulinho an outsider from way down in the standings and no danger whatsoever to the leaders Schleck and Contador.
Tomorrow it's Sisteron - Bourge les Valence 185km. Is Andy Schleck going to hang on to his Yellow Jersey or is Contador going to wait till the Pyrenees to make his move? As there is only one climb involved, Col de Cabre catagory 3, this could be a stage for the sprinters Mark Cavandish or Mcewan.
We shall see tomorrow!!

Re: Tour de France
After the drama of thursday's stage with it's headbutting, shoving and barging and disqualifications, yesterdays stage 12 didn't really come to life till the final climb and had the potential to cause a change in leadership as it is the steepest of the 2010 Tour de France. At the end of a fast, hard day of racing, it did cause significant damage - with several pre-race favorites like Lance Armstrong never in the hunt for honors - but Andy Schleck never panicked and, despite an attack by his main adversary, he keeps the yellow jersey for another day at least.
The Croix Neuve climb was used as a launch pad for the first true attack from Alberto Contador in the 2010 Tour. He was prompted into action by an impressive surge in pace from Joaquim Rodriguez of the Katusha team and the Spanish pair raced past the remnants of an escape group and into the lead. The pair raced to the line with Astana's captain chasing time gains and the Katusha climbing guru looking for a stage win. Both achieved their objectives- Rodriguez claimed his first victory at the Tour and Contador gained 10 seconds in the race for the yellow jersey!!
Andy Schleck is still the holder of the Yellow Jersey but Contador is gaining ground only 31 seconds behind.
Today it's Rodez - Revel 196km.Is Albert Contador going to make his attack or bide his time?
Fascinating stuff right?

Re: Tour de France
Yesterdays stage 14 Revel - Ax 3 Domaines was won by a relatively unknown anonymous Frenchman Christophe Riblon and Schleck and Contador were content to ride in each others wheels to finish together with Andy Schleck still 31 seconds in front of Albert Contador.
Todays stage Pamiers - Bagneres de luchon 188km was won by Thomas Voekler but the battle for the yellow jersey took a dramatic turn when with about 3km to climb,
Schleck launched an attack from an elite group that included Contador buiolding up a solid lead when his chain fell off!!!
Contador seized the moment to attack and even though Schleck eventually remedied the situation he'd lost 28 seconds!!
Contador received reinforcements for his quest for the yellow jersey from Menchov and Sanchez. At the top, this trio was 30†ahead of Schleck - who was chasing furiously for the final moments of the climb, passing the likes of Armstrong and Kloden like they were standing still.
Although he got to within 22†of Contador on the descent, Schleck lost 39†to the Spaniard at the finish. Contador will wear the yellow jersey in stage 16 8 seconds in front! But it's not over yet by any means!
