so if there is a William Smart that fits
born Dudley or Cradley Heath or Rowley Regis in 1852/3

Lots of William Smarts, can only find one in the Black Country area who does not have a wife and even this one is rhe wrong occupation.

Son Samuel Rose was a miner at Mountain Ash in 1911 and I suppose William could have tried his hand at that if he had nothing else.

but like I say, a bit unlikely perhaps and still no sign of Jane anywhere.

I am awaiting Gardener birth certif for William Rose b 1879
apparently Samuel b 1882 and George 1883 all those sons of Wm are at diff addresses
we know George is b 72 Church st.
I will see what it says for Wm and then if need be get Samuel
it may put them deffo in that monkwearmouth in 1881 and maybe enable us to pinpoint an area.

We know Jane is alive in 1887
she and Wm have Lily E Rose

I have the one for Frederick in 1900 and that is 28 Birmingham Street.
I have a photocopy of the burial for Beatrice but never sent for the certificate as I did not think that it would add much.

I've always assumed that Jane was still alive since William and Ellen did not marry. The story in the family was that Ellen went back to her mum's when she found out that William had a wife, but we know that they were not married. It seems odd that Lily was with her father in 1901 if Jane was still around though.

I don't see what the electoral registers would add?
