Robinson William Middlesbro' 9d 809

WILSON Mary Jane Middlesbro' 9d 809

That's a possible San, right place Middlesborough. Both John and Catherine (Kate) were Robinson then? I will get round to ordering some birth certificates, trouble is how many John Robinsons were there :!:

That's another maybe, I would have thought it was a bit far out, really need a Marriage near Kings Lynn. John and Jane seemed to have always lived there. Thanks again from Lin.

she seems to have been born in either North Yorks or Durham, apparently they are near each other. I don't know that area either, which makes pinning them down more difficult

The borders of them change quite a bit! Sometimes North Yorkshire or Durham! They then introduced Cleveland as a County but thats gone now. So Im countyless!
Stockton and Middlesbrough are towns next to each other. If you are checking births try here,
http://www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk/

You can ask questions to some if you need it checking.

Thanks Jo, blimey it sounds more complicated than the BC :!: I am going to send for the birth certificate of Peter Robinson, my John's brother, he was born a couple of years after John, so hopefully they had the same parents, and he should be easier to find. Will get back to you for any help with Counties ASAP. The GRO are taking forever with Certs at the moment, not received some I sent for a month ago!

Jimmy you walk if you want to  Only kidding, I do know that a 25 mile walk back then was probably a country stroll to our Ancestors, yes anything is possible.

Cheers everyone from Lin.

Roberson John. Docking. 13. 114.

My son set out to walk from Kidder to Worcester today, the same as he did last week.

Cheers for that Jimmy, feels much better than Wisbech, been there, horrible place. Love the name Spooner, my MIL who's mother was from Norfolk, said the locals used to sit on the wall and watch the pigs go by, nothing else to do :!:

I did used to walk from Halesowen to Stourbridge Swimming Baths years ago, about a 10 mile trip plus the swimming session. I must have been fit

Many thanks from Lin.

Hi all ok an UPDATE:- We couldn't find Wm Robinson and family in 1891. Think this is Wife Kate in 1891:-

1891 Census 14 Nixon Street Linthorpe Middlesbrough

WELSH, Patrick Head Married M 29 1862 Puddler Clapham London
WELSH, Catherine Wife Married F 23 1868 Stockton Co Durham
WELSH, John William Son M 7 1884 Middlesbrough Yorks
WELSH, James Son M 5 1886 Middlesbrough Yorks
WELSH, Peter Son M 4 1887 Middlesbrough Yorks
WELSH, Mary Daughter F 2 1889 Middlesbrough Yorks

This is the family I think in 1901 now Robinson:-

1901 6 Bedford Street West Hartlepool Durham

ROBINSON, William Head Married M 39 1862 Labourer Blast Furnaces Norfolk
ROBINSON, Kate Wife Married F 34 1867 Stockton Durham
ROBINSON, John Son Single M 17 1884 Labourer Rolling Mills Middlesbro Yorkshire
ROBINSON, Kate Daughter Single F 8 1893 Middlesbro
ROBINSON, Joseph Son Single M 6 1895 Middlesbro
ROBINSON, Edward Son Single M 5 1896 Middlesbro
ROBINSON, William Son Single M 3 1898 West Hartlepool
ROBINSON, Jane E Daughter Single F 1 1900 West Hartlepool

I haven't found Peter Robinson/Welsh in 1901, wonder if he is under that name, have only searched for Peter Robinson as yet. Can anyone find a Marriage for Wm Robinson and Catherine Welsh please? Many thanks from Linell.

I found this odd entry for a possible birth reg on Free BMD for Peter Welsh:-

Births Mar 1887 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WELSH Peter Middlesbro' 9d [56]3[56]

Could someone check on Ancestry and see if there is a specific page number please?

Many thanks from Linell.

This is Peter with his Father Patrick Welsh in 1901; 12 Milbank Street Middlesbrough Yorks:-

LONG, Edward Head Married M 32 1869 Steel Works Labourer
Monmouthshire
So Wales
LONG, Mary Wife Married F 27 1874
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
LONG, Margaret Daughter Single F 3 1898
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
LONG, Peter Son Single M 2 1899
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
LONG, Johanar Daughter Single F 0 (4 MOS) 1901
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
WELSH, Patrick Boarder Married M 39 1862 Puddler Ironworks
London
WELSH, James Boarder Single M 16 1885 General Labourer
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
WELSH, Peter Boarder Single M 14 1887 General Labourer
Middlesbro
Yorkshire
ROBERTSON, Rosey Servant Single F 11 1890 Domestic Servant
London

Are John and Peter Welsh, John and Peter Robinson. John my Gt Grandfather? Any ideas anyone? Would a birth or marriage certificate prove anything? I suppose John's Marriage Certificate to Ellen Basset Field in 1904 is the best bet?

Cheers from Linell.
