I thought this could be your John Chris:-
11 APR 1784 Halesowen, Worcester, England
Parents:
Father: JOHN HARRIS Family
Mother: MARY
As you say there were at least two John Harris. Yours lived in Upper End (which is now Overend) when the children were baptised. The other John and Mary were in Colley Gate. They could have been John's Parents, there is a Cradley burial for a John Harris in 1802. Maybe John Jnr moved up to Colley Gate which is only up the road, after the death of his parents? The two addresses are confusing. HTH from Linell.

Yes to Henry's baptism 12 Jan 1817 Cradley.
Clent marriage - I think we need to find Mary's marriage to unknown Chandler then hopefully find Mary's baptism around 1786.
If John Jnr is 1784 Halesowen, the his parents (John and Mary Smith?) may be the Halesowen marriage 27 May 1780. There is also a baptism for a Thomas Harris of John and Mary 7th July 1782, who may be John jnr's brother.
You've obviously got access to a lot more sources than I have, which is a big help. It is very difficult when dealing with a fairly common name like Harris and very common names like John and Mary - give me an Ephraim any day!

The Cradley Vicars notebook is very interesting - does it mean that the children had a Baptist baptism in addition to the C of E christenings which I have found on the IGI
=>
Rhoda, Sarah, Harry and Lydia at Cradley 6th July 1857
James at Cradley 5th August 1857
I haven't yet found christenings for Timothy (b Q3 1840), Josiah (b Q3 1859) or Phebe (b Q1 1864); perhaps they weren't.
Timothy is not on the 1851 census so may have died young - I have found a death registered at Stourbridge Q3 1841. Do you have access to burial records for Cradley?

Hi Chris, the Vicar's notes were written in Latin in 1857 and have been transcribed by a couple of Cradley Researchers, so it's is a bit difficult to make sense of it in places. It looks as though Phoebe and daughter Elizabeth were the only ones to have taken the Sacrament and were strict Baptists, the other children were baptised by the Rev J.H. Thompson at St Peters C of E Church, but according to the notes they went to the Baptist Sunday School. So am not sure what was going on there, perhaps they were sent there by their Baptist Mother
I did see Henry and Phoebe with son Timothy on the 1841 Census next door to John and Mary in Colley Gate. Sorry my Parish Register only goes up to 1837. You can list the later Baptisms on the Look Up section, when someone goes to the Archives at Dudley they will look them up for you. HTH from Linell.
