If you dont have access to bapts you could request a look up Pedmore is at Dudley
you need to put it on the correct thread or it won't get added to the list.
go to look up requests
then the thread entitled Dudley and smethwick archives post here
then add your look up
need church day month year and of course name
that would then give us hopefully abode and occup of ann bapt in 1825 pemore

Abode is Pedmore. They have all the Worcestershire Baptisms on TheGenealogist.
Shouell means spade or shovell.
By 1851, the only population of Shouell of any size is in Warwickshire.
A few appear in Gloucestershire in the 1870's but then they seem to vanish.

Re: *Arc tbc* ---Sewell family...
None of the Baptism records for this family mention date of birth or occupation of the father.
Looking through other Pedmore entries, this seems to be the norm for this parish.
I wish they were all as good as some of the non-conformist registers.
They sometimes give me the occupations, names of grandparents and god parents.
Looks like the origianl Shouell families were Hugenot or involved with the Hugenot when they fled France.
Shewell is also an accepted variation of the name.

Mark if you are getting your info from the Genealogist it must be transcribed records not the actual images
of the Parish registers.
As the Pedmore ones do have the occupation of the father in as standard format as the other churches.
The pedmore ones show the abode too.
I have checked them at the archives and have the baptisms for those that Gardener flagged.
I believe that that Ann is the one on the 1861 aged 36 and bapt at Pedmore in 1825
father on that bapt is a labourer
I will enter up onto the BCC shortly with notes and my name against it

Re: Sewell family...
Yes they are transcribed, but others have the extra details so I wrongly assumed they were not in the register.
I suppose they sometimes purchase already done transcriptions and it is a bit hit and miss what they get....
Do you have copies of the register entries you can e-mail me?
I have started to look at their Hugenot connections but the information is not "freely" available.
i.e. Most of the relevant texts have been not been placed onto the public domain and they are charging stupid prices for them.

Re: Sewell family...
Hannah Taylor and Isaac Ford are my Great Grandparents so I have that line fairly detailed.
That line of Taylor is West Brom/Handsworth going way back...
I haven't stuck stuff onto BCC for a while so I might spend the morning sticking some of them on there....
As for the Geroge Shewell and Sarah Taylor marriage...
As is said before, the name Shewell is also commonly used for the Shouell family.
So I think we can be 99% certain that is the marriage of Ann's parents.

Re: Sewell family...
Looking into this a bit further, I think this is the timeline.
George Shouell born 1797 Old Swinford married Sarah Taylor in May 1822.
They had four children in the Pedmore parish
William - 1823
Ann - 1825
Joseph - 1826
Charlotte - 1827
Somthing happened to Sarah. Most likely died.
George Shuell married Susannah Evans in May 1831 at Old Swinford
They had at least three children baptised at Old Swinford (who appear with Ann Sewell and her step mother) in the 1841 census.
Thomas Sewell - 1834
Elizabeth Sewell - 1836
George Sewell - 1839
The marriage for George and Sarah will need to be looked at in the Church Registers to get any further with the Taylor side. Same with the Evans.
The I.G.I entry for the Sarah Taylor marriage does not quote any sources but I assume it would be the Pedmore or Old Swinford registers.
The Evans marriage is in the Old Swinford (St Mary's) registers.

Re: Sewell family...
They are siblings of George.
There are 13 children including George.
Parents are Henry Shewell and Elizabeth Scott who married Old Swinford in 1795.
Henry Shewell was the son of Henry Sewell and Susannah Tilley.
That is as far back as I have gone with the Sewell family so far.
My only concern is that some people insist George Sewell married a Jane Herring in about 1812.
No evidence has been presented for that at all.....
He would have been 15 if born in 1797!!!!

Re: Sewell family...
Mark if you want those marriages looked up add them to the thread in the look ups section

need day month year and church and of course names
it will then be added to the list.
same with any baptisms.
If you feel any of this is good enough to be added to BCC please do.
We can now archive this pending further info forthcoming
or
we can move it to Brickwalls
flagging to archive or B/W
unless otherwise advised this will be archived
