I've cracked it, Mary Tickle was Mary Southwell, and the family lived at Bournville, hence they were Chocolate Makers.

And granger did a good job too cos that was the right Tickle family in 1901 though Mary did not show up until later.

Here is the 1881

Mary ann ditto, wife, 21, laundress, Exeter, devon
Alice ditto, dau, 5m, selly oak, Worcs

And saw this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Tickle so the footballer in Lin's 1911 census is famous enough to be on Wiki!

I think Alice Tickle and Mary Southwell both worked at Cadburys, made friends, Alice took Mary home where she met and fell in love with brother Charles Tickle 8) I get the feeling that Charles either died young or they split up. No children found and simmadonna's family seemed to think that Mary was a Spinster :?: Just my thoughts :P Linell.
