It looks to me that Emily and John were cousins, if that is the right marriage, that could be why they married a long way from home.
Let us know when you get the marriage cert.

Hi Jimmy
I wondered if you might be able to help me shed some light.
I have rec'd a copy of Emily Adelaide Wilkes' 2nd marriage cert to William Scott Covel in 1918. It states that her age was 37 making her born in 1881. The details that you sent me from 1911 census showing details of her 1st marriage to John William Wilkes were correct as they did have child Agnes, Doris, Georgina and Gwen but these details show that she was born in 1878?
Could this just be an error by the transcriber?
The 2nd marriage cert states that her father was Richard Hammond Wilkes. I can trace him until 1871 then it gets a little grey as he seems to vanish. FreeBMD states death in 1895 but i cant seem to trace him until this date through the census?
Any ideas

I wouldn't bother to much on the the ages in the census's if they are out by a couple of years, I wiil have a look to see if I can find Richard Hammond Wilkes.

Hi both
I have got all the info jimmy sent me. The Emily Adelaide Wilkes that i have which the 2nd wedd cert if howing that Richard was her father and i have her birth year of 1878 so the dates dont stack up

What is Richards occupation on the wedding cert.

Its ok Jimmy, you did the hard work I can just fill in the gaps
I can fill in what Jimmy found, I just wasnt sure if you had been to the libararyor not.
As Jimmy said them couple of years will probably make no difference!
It would be a good idea to put all the marriage cert info so we can check too.

The details on the marriage cert for her 2nd marriage are:
Married William Scott Covel on Dec 26th 1918
Married in City of lincoln, district Sleaford
Her father Richard Hammond Wilkes - Farmer
His father William Covel - Blacksmith
