I do know that he was married to Mercy Wyle - Born 1883 Died 1974. They married on 15/05/1905 in Halesowen?

So the Florence May as wife is not correct.

I don't know any of my ancestors prior to George, that's why I'm trying to find his birth certificate so I can find his father/mother.

Ther is a George H GOODIN born in 1882 , registered in Rowley Regis - right next to Blackheath.

Sandwell register number is RR/79/390

Could this be him with the name misspelt?

on West Midlands BMD Marriage index the entries are as follows

GEODIN * George H, - WYLE Mercy Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/008/257

GOODIN * George H, - WYLE Mercy Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/008/257

Obviously the same couple but the transcribers were unable to read the writing.

Looks like the name was Goodin at the time and got changed to Goodwin later.

That's got to be him, as I've just found out they married at St. Johns Church in Halesowen.

I will get onto Sandwell ASAP thank you so much Cid.

and the last number on that marriage is the entry number
I thought you had the marriage certif already as that will give you the fathers name
