Can't see evidence of Polands in Devon really early on, but quite a few in the 1841 &51 census, and lots in early 1800s in County Essex, Massachusetts.

Thanx everyone for your hints and suggestions; I will take everything on board and see what I come up with, and let you all know. The earliest mention I have of the Poland family in Devon, UK, is the birth of Zebulon Poland circa 1750/55. If I can locate his parents, then I'll be able to see if the American line links up. Also I have somewhere in my notes (which I can't get to at the moment), the information from where I got his birth, marriage and death details.
