Hi TWG

Yes that is the Shelah Garratt I was looking for. I was just interested to see who had done all the reaearch further back. I can get back to shelah and Hannah Lees via birth / marriage certs. Was interested to know why they seem to have got married after their first child was born. Will go back to archives and see if there are any notes on the baptism entries.

Regards

Hi TWG

Have you any idea where Shelah and Hannah are buried. I have been round St Andrews churchyard in Netherton, but couldn't find anything.

Cid if you are fairly sure it is St Andrews then you need to get the churchyard records from Dudley out.
If there is maybe some recognition on one of the Graves like a small Stone recorded, that is no longer there, then there may be a record.
There was for my Hinetts.
Don't think this is the Monumental Inscriptions one it has a different name.
Then you get a plot number and the map and can find them that way, even if there is no headstone today.
But...there has to have been something that the council ( or whoever recorded this) noted down.

Have you tried the Dudley cemetaries record online?
when did he die?
and where?

According to info from TWG Shelah died Feb 1870 in Simms Lane Netherton, which made me think St Andrews. Have looked on Dudley cemetery records site, but no luck. Another one for the archives.

If you have the date of death and qtr you can just rule out St Andrews seeing if actually buried there

Cos you go thru the burial register and see if buried there
just cos no headstone doesnt mean not buried there

Even better if you know when he died with a death certif or you have to wade thru that qtr you have for that year.

Now flagging this to archive
unless otherwise advised this will be moved to archived section
